The fog still accompanies the beginning of the day, then the sky lightens as Stevens Pass approaches. The ski resort allows me to eat, recharge and above all dry all wet stuff during the night.

The prices are very high: burger, waffle and ice are expensive for an average quality. The hiker box largely compensates. I find enough bars and food to avoid the priceless mini store.

I’m going back to the penultimate section, heading for Stehekin and then Mazama. Body, electronics and equipment are ready again. The southbounders describe a difficult path, with blowdowns and collapsed portions. Their concern may be heightened by their lack of comparison, but I still expect a slower progression.
