Day 78Clackamas County, Oregon

For Independence Day, I arrive early at the Olallie Lake store. It works with solar energy, so it is impossible to recharge, but the supply is sufficient for the next 3 days. I’ll have coffee, donuts and a big muffin before I go back.

The terrain is easy and shaded, most of the blowdowns have been cleared. I end up traveling about 40 miles, my biggest recent day.

In the last few miles, significant pain appears under the left foot. I box and walk on the tip to relieve the area. After long days, the possibility of a fatigue fracture passes through my mind. I can’t conclude anything at the moment, I’ll change my soles, sleep and watch evolution.

The plan remains to reach Timberline Lodge early the next day, then continue as much as possible to Cascade Locks. Everything will now depend on the foot.
