Day 67Ashland, Oregon

After 8 or 9 miles, I arrive at Callahans Lodge near the motorway. The place looks more like a passing hotel than a holiday place, but its 15-dollar breakfast buffet is excellent. While I eat, the welcome arranges a paid trip to Ashland.

I’m going straight to Mountain Provisions. As my order for Altra has been cancelled and the Lone Peak available no longer convinces me, I decide to change my brand. I buy Topo Traverse in size 10, half a size above my old shoes. I hope that the change of shape and support will relieve the soles of the feet and heels.

I also replace several Zpacks stuff bags at the end of my life, buy gas and find UV gloves in a fishing store to protect my hand. After a fresher lunch than a burger, a chicken wrap, avocado and vegetables, I have an ice cream, a three-day supply at Safeway and join my hotel.

Accommodation looks like a shared apartment with kitchen, living room and several bedrooms. I’m alone in a four-bed dormitory, an ideal configuration to land. Ashland is a pleasant, quiet and easy to travel city.
