Day 82Skamania County, Washington

Day 2 in Washington is monotonous: forest, descent, ascent, then forest again. The path is clean and untechnical, but the elevation remains important and the absence of views eventually weighs mentally.

I’m surprisingly tired. During a break, I put a 10-minute timer and actually m’endors, a first on the trail. I hope to join the camp around 7:30 and get to bed earlier.

This fatigue may come as much from the lack of sleep in Cascade Locks as from the repetitive landscape. Without a horizon or a change of scenery, walking seems longer despite a fairly simple terrain.
