Day 39Yosemite (Yosemite National Park, California)
I stopped 3 miles earlier than expected the day before, but the camp was excellent: little wind, a good night and even a little network. To catch up, I set the alarm clock at 04:45 with a target of 31 miles and 2 passes.
The day is one of the most tiring of the journey. It snows while I walk and the new falls clear the tracks left by the other hikers. The trail disappears under snow, at the end of the climb, it softens and becomes both exhausting and slippery. Nevertheless, I manage to cross the 2 passes.
Then enter Yosemite, where the land becomes temporarily flatter. I meet Lucile, a French woman who left early in the season. She changed her itinerary to travel part of the trail in the opposite direction and avoid the most difficult conditions.
I still have about 12 miles left if I want to hold the target. The camping rules are stricter in the park, which limits the withdrawal solutions, but I have planned a shorter option if necessary.
