Day 20Lancaster, California
I walk to Hikertown, a setting of a false western village on the edge of the desert. In the evening, the owner of a business picks up several hikers and allows us to camp behind his store.
The night is very windy and the road with traffic is close, but the stop offers everything we need: coffee, breakfast burrito, banana bread, shower, real toilets, charging devices and some shopping. I complete my supply enough to avoid a detour by Tehachapi and hold to Kennedy Meadows.
